One World: Together At Home

17 April, 2020

We’ve heard (quite rightly) countless times that staying home is saving lives. But what if there were something practical we could do to help from our sofas?

This weekend, our friends at Global Citizen are hosting a global live-cast, ‘One World: Together At Home’. The event will use the power of music and advocacy to bring people together, virtually, to celebrate health workers and raise money for the World Health Organisation’s COVID-19 Solidary Response Fund

Global Citizen’s advocacy model marries pop with politics and calls on individuals around the world to take action on policy issues to support those in greatest need and celebrate individuals and organisations making a difference. In the words of Lady Gaga, who is co-curating the event, “this is not a telethon, put your wallets away”. Instead, this event will showcase stories from health workers on the front line across the world, and calls on individuals to ask world leaders, corporations and philanthropists to commit funds to the World Health Organisation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

Since its announcement only ten days ago, ‘One World: Together At Home’ has already raised over $35 million, and we encourage you all to tune in Sunday evening on BBC One to support their efforts. And as the star-studded line-up keeps on growing – from Stevie Wonder, J Lo, Elton John, Oprah and Taylor Swift – we don’t doubt it will be a truly historic event. After all, where else have you got to be?
