2025 Earthshot prize winners

14 November, 2025

We are always thrilled to see the Earthshot Prize nominees and winners, a true celebration of diverse, global progress for our planet. Launched in 2020, the Earthshot Prize is a decade-long initiative designed to accelerate climate action. Each year, five ground-breaking solutions are awarded £1 million each across five critical areas: Nature, Air, Oceans, Waste, and Climate. We excited to spotlight two of our favourites from this year’s winners, announced last week.

First, the nature winner, re.green.  Re.green is using AI, drones, and satellite imagery to restore Brazil’s Atlantic Forest at scale. By combining ecological data with innovative finance models, they’re making reforestation profitable and replicable, aiming to restore 200,000 hectares by 2030. While AI gets a lot of bad press, it’s great to see some of those promised environmental solutions making an appearance.

Second, of course we want to talk about climate. Friendship, an organisation founded by Runa Khun in 2002, is dedicated to preparing vulnerable communities for natural disasters using sustainable, locally owned initiatives. For instance, to protect against cyclones, Friendship is planting over 60km of mangrove forests on the southern coastline protecting over 125,000 people. This is a perfect pair of climate resilience alongside a climate solution, being a major carbon sink.

If you’d like to hear more about these initiatives, or to have a look at the other winners, head to the Earthshot website or YouTube channel.
