Budding romance

11 February, 2022

With Valentine’s Day less than a week away, you might be thinking about what to give your special someone. And what says ‘I love you’ better than flowers?

This week on the Goods, we’re highlighting Arena Flowers, a sustainable florist based in London. The sustainability credentials of Arena Flowers are truly impressive. They plant two trees per order, and haven’t used single-use plastics in their packaging since 2017. On top of that, they are the only florist in the world who sends nothing to landfill. Their pioneering closed-loop waste system means that all their plant off-cuts are salvaged to produce packing materials without the need for new resources.

There is a dedicated Valentine’s Day section on the website, including both traditional and more unusual options. As well as flowers, you can add cards, chocolates, beauty products, and champagne. You could even push the boat out and plump for a subscription, sending flowers weekly, fortnightly or monthly to keep that romantic spark alive. And if you’re flying solo this year, why not practice some self-love and order a bouquet for yourself?

Even if you’re not interested in buying flowers, we recommend taking a look at their Twitter page, which is full of useful life hacks, including “how to avoid falling in love with your seagull”. What a Valentine’s Day that would be…
