Mozart in Motion

23 August, 2024

This weekend, the BBC Proms is bringing a wave of excitement to Bristol, headlined by our good friends Paraorchestra. As the world’s first professional orchestra of both disabled and non-disabled musicians, they are challenging stereotypes and breaking down physical and societal barriers. On 24th of August the groundbreaking ensemble will premiere “The Virtuous Circle” at Bristol Beacon, offering audiences an experience that redefines the boundaries of classical music.

However, this isn’t your typical symphony. Co-directed by founder, Charles Hazlewood, and Kyla Goodey, “The Virtuous Circle” transforms Mozart’s iconic Symphony No. 40 into a mesmerizing journey, combining live orchestration with vibrant choreography and innovative compositions from the acclaimed Oliver Vibrans. The performance will see the orchestra and dancers moving in sync, inviting the audience into an immersive spectacle that celebrates the beauty of collaboration and the power of inclusivity.

The Paraorchestra’s presence at the BBC Proms serves as a reminder that the arts should be accessible to all, and that diversity brings richness and depth to cultural experiences. As they take the stage at one of the world’s most esteemed music festivals, they are not only showcasing their exceptional talent, but also advocating for a more inclusive future in the arts. This historic performance is sure to leave a lasting impact, both on the audience and the broader cultural landscape.

The Paraorchestra’s performance is set to be a sensory feast, blending sound, visuals, and technology in ways that push the boundaries of conventional concert experiences. Want to experience it for yourself? Then book your tickets here!
