Friday 5
A cool(er) option
26 June, 2026
Small talk has been sorted this week. “Hot, isn’t it?” has done a lot of heavy lifting across offices, trains and Teams calls alike. And fair enough, the tube has felt more sauna than subway.
Still, not everyone’s suffering. Some smug (but secretly sensible) souls at Good Business have been gliding through Hyde Park under a canopy of trees or catching a breeze along the Thames, thanks to two wheels.
And if you needed a nudge, here it is: as part of London Climate Action Week, Santander Cycles is offering a free monthly pass (usually £20). That means unlimited 60‑minute rides across central and inner London for 30 days. Download the app, select monthly access, and enter the code ClimateActionWeek. Just make sure you’re a new user.
Chances are many of you have already been out at events this week, so you’re eligible. If not, there’s still time to catch something over the weekend, so it’s worth a look at the programme.
So, if the heat’s getting a bit much, consider switching it up. A bike. or even an e‑bike for a £1 upgrade might just be the coolest way to get around right now.
More of this, please: making the sustainable choice the easy (and even free) one.
