AI, sustainability and the role of sustainability leaders
9 October, 2026
As AI becomes an increasingly important part of how businesses operate, what role can, and should, sustainability leaders play in its integration into organisations? And what impact is it having on how sustainability is delivered and managed?
That’s the topic at the heart of the latest wave of our Sustainability Leaders Panel (SLP) research. Together with our SLP partners at Echo Research and Mishcon de Reya, and with participation this time from Blueprint for Better Business, who are looking at how business can be a force for good in the age of AI, we want to understand what’s happening in practice. How is AI being used to support sustainability decisions, how organisations are managing its (or their??) wider impacts, and how prepared are sustainability leaders to help shape its responsible and effective deployment in their organisations?
If you are a member of the panel already, a link to the survey will be in your inbox very soon, and we look forward to your insights to help us shape a richer picture of where things stand – and where they might be heading.
We will be sharing the findings across our network, as well as bringing the research to life at two SLP breakfast events before the end of the year – one in London and, inspired by Number 10 North, one in the North – where we’ll explore what the results mean in practice in a relaxed roundtable format over a croissant and a coffee.
The SLP brings together senior sustainability professionals to share perspectives on the issues shaping their roles and organisations. If you’d like to contribute to the research and be part of the conversation, you can find out more and apply to join the panel here: The Sustainability Leaders Panel – Good Business.
