Belazu’s virtual banquet
15 May, 2020
With schools being closed right now, 500,000 children who are eligible for free school meals are currently going without, and the number of households with children going hungry has doubled since lockdown. This means one-fifth of families are unable to get the food they need.
Shout out to our longstanding client, Belazu Ingredient Company, who, through the Belazu Foundation are hosting a four-course virtual banquet on Friday 29th May. They have teamed up with charity partner, Chefs in Schools, which places restaurant-trained chefs in primary schools to provide them with high quality and nutritional meals, and educate them on food.
To raise money for the charity, the Foundation will be leading a virtual cook-along dinner guided by top restaurant chefs, with every £90 ticket for two equating to 60 nutritious meals for families in need. The fee buys you the ingredients you need for the cook-along (which includes cauliflower shawarma and a raspberry and ricotta pudding, and are sent to your door), a cocktail, and access to the event. Whilst you can only buy at least two tickets, Belazu is encouraging those on their own to enjoy the banquet twice that weekend or share a with a neighbour (which we’re sure would be gladly received).
The evening will be hosted by the chair of Chefs in Schools, with guest appearances from a South African comedian and a magician who incorporates food. All you need are basic kitchen items, a laptop and a good internet connection.
Tickets are on sale until 22nd May – what are you waiting for?
