Food, glorious food!

If you’ve followed Friday 5 for a while, or know us personally, you’ll know we’re a team of foodies. And whilst we enjoyed the challenge of keeping ourselves fed and entertained at home, the novelty wore off a while ago, so we can barely contain our excitement at the sight of Soho’s streets filled with al fresco dining options this week.
The hospitality industry has really had it tough this year. From restrictions imposed at crushingly short notice, leading to mountains of wasted food, to mounting debt and unpaid rent, it’s no wonder that almost 1 in 5 hospitality businesses (19%) have ‘low confidence’ that their business would survive the next 3 months.
However, times are changing, and next week, Giles will be speaking at the Better Hospitality Conference with some of the sector’s other movers and shakers at this two-day virtual event. The line-up will reflect on the future of hospitality and economic recovery, showcase innovations in menu design and business models, cover the latest food trends and reflect on how to build sustainability into hospitality.
