The Goods: Fine Cell Work
3 December, 2021
December already!? To do our part in avoiding the last-minute dash to the high street on Christmas Eve, Good Business will be providing festive gift ideas from truly good businesses every Friday in the run up to Christmas.
The first on our festive list – Fine Cell Work.
Fine Cell Work is a charity and social enterprise that creates beautiful handmade products in British prisons. The charity helps to train prisoners in high-quality, skilled, creative needlework, supporting them to live crime-free lives through learning new skills, saving money, and giving them the confidence and self-belief to not re-offend.
Funded by the National Lottery Fund, the charity also has a post-release programme, where ex-. offenders can continue to benefit from work experience and formal training to support their reintegration into society.
The products are designed in collaboration with some of the country’s leading contemporary designers, including Cath Kidston and Studio Ashby; from bookmarks to lampshades, there are plenty of options for a small secret Santa gift or that extra special something.
