Good life experience
18 March, 2021
Back in the days of school, you will have learnt maths, English and science. But what about the things that school didn’t teach you like how to keep growing, whilst overcoming life’s setbacks?
Thankfully, the Good Life Institute in Sri Lanka aims to teach you how to achieve a good life through personal growth, helping others and becoming ‘better than I used to be’ – even in the face of adversity.
The Institute is a new venture, from the Foundation of Goodness, which was originally set-up to help resuscitate the Sri Lankan coast after the devastation caused by the tsunami of 2004. Founder, Kushil Gunasekera – successful businessman turned philanthropist – was inspired to teach people how to turn setbacks into opportunities and master the mind. The Institute takes Gunasekera’s inspirational learning and turns it into a course that can be applied to people’s lives.
At GB, we helped fundraise to set up the Foundation and it has delivered humanitarian services aimed at bridging the gap between urban and rural communities for over 20 years, helping over 35,000 beneficiaries of 500 villages during this time. Its programme consists of ‘sea therapy’, meditation sessions and volunteering in the Sri Lankan community. And its aim is to provide its students with a shared growth experience between themselves and beneficiaries in the local community.
Travelling to distant places to exchange cultural perspectives is one of the ways we can expand our world view and think outside our bubble. Needed now, after a year of introspection and small horizons more than ever, perhaps. So, click here to find out more about the Institute’s Good Life Experience programme for when travel is allowed again.
