Colder weather? Suits us!

13 October, 2023

Headed down to the beach this weekend or at half term? It may not be as balmy as the last few weekends, so this week we’re highlighting a brand that can help. Finisterre, a UK-based outdoor clothing brand, is offering rentals of its innovatively made wetsuits!

You may be thinking “how is that different from beach side rentals?!” These aren’t just any wetsuits; Finisterre is offering high quality, neoprene-free wetsuits at accessible prices.

What’s wrong with neoprene? It’s made from petroleum, so is non-biodegradable and relies on the use of fossil fuels. Wetsuits generally end up in landfill and are incinerated. This leads to a huge release of carbon, damaging the ocean and environment the wearers enjoy. It’s no secret that Finisterre is a lover of the ocean and the natural environment, so to avoid the harmful impacts of neoprene, their team has converted their entire wetsuit line to Yulex®. Yulex® is a brand that uses natural rubber to create renewable plant-based alternative to petroleum-based neoprene. It is renewable, non-toxic AND they have committed to zero deforestation which is pretty great too.

Amazing right, but why rent? Renting is becoming an increasing option within the clothing space, giving renters the chance to try out products or use them for short periods, saving money and avoiding wastage. This is ideal for wetsuits as sadly we can’t spend the whole year at the beach. By renting, you can use the suit when you need it, and let others use it when you’re not. And finally, if you are lucky enough to decide you’ll get enough use out of the wetsuit yourself, you can buy it at a discounted price!

What do we like about this story? At Good Business we love innovation, sharing resources (sharing is caring of course!) and spending time outdoors. Finisterre lets you love the ocean, respect the planet and stay warm all at once – a win, win, win!
